Position Title: Justice Advocate

Reports to: Justice Advocate Supervisor

Major Function: To provide criminal and civil advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

$250 for satisfactory performance and completion of the first 30 days of employment

$300 after satisfactory performance and completion of the first 90 days of employment


Illustrative Duties:

路 Provide support, advocacy, crisis intervention, case management, danger assessment, and resources to survivors of domestic violence following the empowerment-based advocacy model.

路 Carry an assigned caseload and meet with participants on a regular basis to provide resources, advocacy, and ongoing safety planning.

路 Work with survivors to assist them with assessing their needs and goals, and help them develop a plan to achieve their goals.

路 Attend criminal and civil court hearings with survivors or on their behalf at the request of the survivor.

路 Attend DV related court hearings to identify survivors in the courtroom and offer services and support.

路 Keep survivors informed of upcoming court dates and what to expect for court hearings.

路 Review police reports and reach out to survivors to offer services.

路 Assist survivors with completing the injunction packet.

路 Assist survivors with the victim compensation and address confidentiality program as needed.

路 Coordinate transportation for survivors to get to court as needed.

路 Work collaboratively with the State Attorney Office, the Clerk of the Courts, Law Enforcement organizations, Child Protection, and all other community partners to enhance victim safety and perpetrator accountability.

路 Complete all required documents, paper work, reports, and data entry in a timely manner.

路 Facilitate support groups or empowerment based workshops as requested by your supervisor.

路 Attend and participate in case conferences, staff meetings, trainings, community meetings and presentations as requested by your supervisor.

路 Assist with training and assisting CASA volunteers and interns.

路 Provide assistance to any program areas at CASA as requested by management.

路 Perform special projects and all other duties as assigned.

路 Demonstrate a commitment to treat participants, volunteers, community partners, and co-workers in a respectful manner at all times.

路 Attend staff meetings.

路 Complete CORE Competency Training within 90 days of hire.

路 Complete 16 hours of training annually.

路 Agree to work a flexible schedule, which may include changing schedules based on the needs of a survivor.

路 Regular work attendance, including punctuality.



路 Two years of college education or 2 years of equivalent related work, educational, volunteer, or life experience preferred or a minimum of one-year proven success in a current CASA direct service position.

路 Have the ability to function independently and work cooperatively as a team member

路 Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or other crisis or social service experience preferred

路 Knowledge of community resources and the ability to maintain working relationships with other agencies

路 Willingness to work a flexible schedule

路 Must have direct access to reliable transportation during all working hours.

路 Willingness to drive agency vehicles, as needed.

路 Valid Florida State Driver鈥檚 License and proof of auto insurance verified annually.

路 Participate in both CASA and State Attorney criminal background check.
