Volunteer Spotlight: Meet LaSharown
News Volunteer Spotlights

It was February of 2020 when LaSharown Williams came to Florida from Kansas City, Missouri to start her life over. She needed to “unplug” herself from those she knows and loves for a little while to focus on herself to discover and pursue her true passions. CASA has been the fortunate recipient of some of those passions which is helping others and in particular, helping women. “I like helping people and I want to add value where value is needed,” says LaSharown and explains, “I gravitate towards situations and organizations that empower women.” Although LaSharown only became an active CASA volunteer in August, she has jumped in with both feet helping out our Development Department writing letters, delivering Domestic Violence Awareness Month boxes to businesses, and volunteering to help out at CASA’s annual Peace Celebration on October 14th. According to Nick Brzak, CASA’s Donor Relations Manager, “Over the last several weeks, she has been an integral part of the team of volunteers who have donated their time and efforts to make the residents and leaders of Pinellas County aware of the plight of domestic violence survivors.” When she is not volunteering with CASA, LaSharown spends her time running a cleaning and organization service and working as a certified personal trainer, plugging in to her new home community and earning CASA’s Volunteer Spotlight for October!
